MAOMI.FAN · A LITTLE CAFÉ GUIDE

How to play? Just spend a little time with the cats.

Maomi Fan is a virtual cat café you open in your browser. Meet playful Dafu, curious Meiqiu and sleepy Niangao. Invite them to play or watch them go about their day. There is no target you have to complete.

From gentle pets to food and water

  1. Choose a cat. Select a portrait on the left, then choose Pet to spend a gentle moment together.
  2. Take a little walk. On a computer, move the paw cursor over clear floor space and your selected cat follows. Moving outside the room pauses this. You can also click an open spot. On a phone, drag an empty area to look around.
  3. Offer food and water. Choose Food or Water to fill the room’s existing bowls. The cat approaches after the pouring tool moves away. You can also tap a bowl. An empty bowl has no penalty and never creates a chore.
  4. Play together. Choose Play and move the wand so your cat can approach the feather. Tap the yarn ball, bell ball or fabric mouse: your cat walks over, bats it and follows it. You can change activities whenever you like.
  5. Find a resting place. Tap the cat tree, sofa or wall nook. Cats approach and jump into place, and wait when a spot is occupied. Try the scratching post too.
  6. Save the moment. Choose Photo to download a picture of the café to your device.

A little music, if you like

Open Music to start a gentle soundtrack, choose a track, change volume or add rain ambience. Music keeps playing when you close its panel. Cat voices and interaction sounds are separate from the music, and need a click or key press to unlock. You can adjust them in Prefs.

Day and night follow your device’s local time. Rain starts outside at random and stops by itself. Music is optional: the cats are the heart of the café.

Ready for a cat? & Your bond

Open Quiz for two optional, 20-situation reflections. Ready for a cat? explores commitment, time, patience and living conditions. Your bond looks at trust, interaction, understanding and the care routine you share with a real cat.

You can close a quiz and continue later in the same browser, review answers and save a result card. Chinese and English share the same answers and scoring. Clearing browser data, private browsing or another device may not retain progress.

These are self-reflection tools, not an adoption qualification or a measurement of a cat’s feelings. Breed-style names are metaphors. Your bond is not a game level and has no effect on the virtual cats.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an app or an account?

No. Open Maomi Fan in a phone or computer browser. The interactive room needs JavaScript, and a first visit downloads the illustrations and cat animations.

Does virtual feeding send food to real cats?

No. Food and water are interactions with virtual characters. They do not represent food deliveries or donations to real animals.

Are there daily check-ins or care chores?

No. There are no daily tasks, hunger timers or losses while you are away. Come and go whenever you like.

Why is there no sound?

Most browsers require a click or key press before audio can play. Interact with the café, check the cat-sound volume in Prefs, and check whether your device is muted. Music needs to be started separately in Music.

Can I switch between Chinese and English?

Yes. Use EN or the Chinese-language button beside the immersive-view control. Your language choice is remembered when browser storage is available. Quiz answers and preferences are shared.

Can this replace caring for a real cat?

The café offers virtual companionship. Real cats need lasting care, appropriate living conditions and long-term responsibility. The readiness reflection can help you think about your situation.
